The Misericordia University men's basketball team fell to Arcadia, 74-60, Wednesday evening.
Â
Josh Pelzer led the Cougars with 15 points while
Patrick Brown added 13 and
Jack Gallagher chipped in 10.
Â
Matt Prociak opened the scoring for Misericordia with a pull-up jumper in the paint to tie the game at 2-2.
Â
The Cougars then went cold, enduring an eight-minute scoring drought before Brown snapped it with a pair of free throws midway through the half.
Â
Prociak followed by spinning off his defender for a layup, but Misericordia still trailed 23-6.
Â
Brown continued to provide a spark, knocking down a corner three with just under 10 minutes remaining in the half and converting a layup a minute later.
Â
Despite the effort, the Cougars were unable to gain traction and went into the locker room trailing 36-19.
Â
Misericordia opened the second half with urgency as Gallagher knocked down two free throws, followed by a
Darryl Wright three-pointer from the left wing.
Â
Midway through the half, Pelzer attempted to ignite a rally, draining a three from the left corner and then, nearly two minutes later, connecting on a deep three from the top of the key as Misericordia trailed 58-39.
Â
The Cougars continued to battle over the final eight minutes, outscoring the Knights 22-15 down the stretch, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome.
Â
With the loss, Misericordia is 14-6 overall and 6-3 in the MAC Freedom.
Â
The Cougars will travel to Stevens, Saturday at 3:00 PM.
