Baseball Takes Two to Finish Sweep of Stevens

The Misericordia University baseball team won its seventh straight game with a 6-4, 7-3 sweep of Stevens, Sunday at Tambur Field.
 
Ben St. Pierre and Brooks Kanwisher both went 2-4 with one RBI and one run scored in game one while Shane Patten and Michael Duda both produced two RBI.
 
Aidan Paduck won the game in relief and Zak Lussier picked up his fourth save in four straight appearances.
 
Patten went 2-4 with two RBI in game two while St. Pierre and Duda added two RBI each. Jase Seltzer earned the win and Lussier pitched 3.2 innings to pick up his fifth straight save.
 
Stevens scored lone runs in the first and third innings to take an early 2-0 lead.
 
Misericordia responded in the bottom half of the third inning. Owen Cordner reached first on an error and advanced to second on Duda's single to left center. St. Pierre's bunt single loaded the bases and Patten lined a two-out single through the right side to tie the score.
 
Misericordia took the lead with two more runs in the fourth inning. Owen Daminger walked with one out, stole second and moved to third on Cordner's single through the left side.  Duda drove in a run on a fielder's choice and St. Pierre beat out a bunt single to make it 4-2.
 
Stevens tied the game in the fifth inning, but Misericordia took the lead for good in the sixth inning. Daminger reached on an infield single and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt and a passed ball. Duda scored him on a squeeze bunt and
Kanwisher doubled to left center to make it 6-4.
 
Paduck worked a scoreless sixth to earn the win and Lussier pitched a hitless seventh.
 
The Cougars scored one run each in the first and second inning to take an early in game two. St. Pierre reached via HBP to open the game and stole second in front of Patten's RBI-single through the right side.
 
In the second inning, Cordner walked, stole second and later scored when Duda ripped a single through the left side.
 
Misericordia added onto their lead with a two-out rally in the fifth inning. Kanwisher reached on a two-out bunt and advanced to second on a balk.  He scored when Patten dunked a single in front of the right fielder and MU extended its r lead to 3-0 after five innings.
 
Stevens scored a pair of runs in the sixth inning, but the Cougars got one back on another two-out rally in the bottom half. Cordner singled and advanced to second on an error. Three straight walks brought him home to make it 4-2.
 
The Ducks scored another run in the seventh inning and threatened to tie the game in the eighth with a runner on third with one out.  Cordner threw a strike to Duda at the plate on a bouncer to third and Bryant Diaz made an over the shoulder catch on pop up to shallow center to end the threat.
 
Misericordia closed the door on the Ducks with three insurance runs in the bottom half of the inning. Duda drove in the first run on a sacrifice fly and St. Pierre blasted an opposite-field double to left center to make it 6-3.  Kanwisher lined single to right center to give the Cougars a 7-3 lead.
