Cougars Take Series Opener From King's

The Misericordia University baseball team improved to 10-0 in the MAC Freedom with an 18-7 win over King's, Tuesday at Tambur Field.
 
Joe Peters had three hits, including a three-run homer, with five RBI and three runs scored and Owen Daminger had two hits with three RBI and two runs scored.
 
Gavin Dillard, Shane Patten, Bryant Diaz, Owen Daminger and Owen Cordner all had two hits.
 
Aidan Paduck earned his third win out of the bullpen as the Cougars won their eighth straight game.
 
Misericordia scored its first run in the bottom of the second when Daminger was hit by a pitch and later scored on Michael Duda's sacrifice fly.
 
The Cougars added another run in the third inning when Brooks Kanwisher led off with a walk and scored on Patten's single up the middle.
 
King's tied up the game 2-2 in the top of the fifth, but the Cougars offense exploded for seven two-out runs in the bottom half of the inning.
 
Diaz started the scoring with an RBI-double and Daminger plated two more runs on a single through the right side. Drew Van Horn doubled to left field drive in a pair and Duda followed with an RBI-single through the right side to make it 8-2. Ben St. Pierre brought home the final run of the inning on a triple to left center to give MU a 9-2 lead.
 
The Cougars added four more runs in the sixth inning. Dillard kicked off the inning with a double to left field and Patten was hit by a pitch.  Following a double steal, Daminger's sacrifice fly brought in a run.  Diaz was hit by a pitch and Peters singled down the left field line to score two more runs to extend MU's lead to 12-2. Following a walk and an error, Kanwisher drew a bases-loaded walk to make it 13-2.
 
MU added one more in the seventh inning on Cordner's pinch-hit single to right.
 
King's added five runs in the top of the eighth, but Misericordia responded with four in the bottom. Dylan Cerone and Chase Parise both reached safely on singles and Vin Proietto singled through the left side to drive in a run.  Peters crushed a three-run home run to center to provide the final margin.
