Box Score 2 The Misericordia University softball team picked up its first two wins of the season with a pair of five-inning shutouts, Tuesday in Melbourne, FL.

The Cougars beat Anna Maria, 8-0, and Houghton, 11-0.

In the opener, the Cougars three runs in the top of the first and added two more in the second.Â

Bridget Doherty,
Gianna Russo and
Gianna Foreman all reached to open the top of the first and all three scored to give MU a 3-0 lead.
Â
Edna Kiefer singled to lead off the second  and later scored and Doherty reached and scored to make it 5-0.
Â
Kiefer, Doherty and Russo all scored in the fourth inning.
Â
Jennifer Milisits worked three innings to earn the win and
Morgan Kelly pitched the final two innings.
Â
In game two,
Rylie Nasso had three hits and scored four runs and
Bridget Doherty and
Emmalee Mowery had two hits each.
Â
Gabby Cruz struck out 11 while allowing just one hit over five innings to earn the win.
Â
The Cougars jumped in front 4-0 in the first inning and scored in each of their four at bats.

After Cruz struck out the side in the top of the first,
Gianna Foreman,
Casey Funesti, Cruz and
Alicia Moran all had RBI-singles in the bottom of the inning.

Funesti had another RBI-single in the second and
Mackenzie Fizer followed with an RBI-double to left to make it 6-0. Mowery made it 7-0 with an infield single.

In the third, Enda Kiefer and Nasso singled to open the inning and
Sammie Gallick walked to load the bases.Â
Juleigh Bowmaster and
Emma Lamlin were both hit by pitch to force in two more runs and Mowery singled to right to extend the lead to 10-0.

Nasso, Gallick and Lamlin all singled in the fourth to close out the scoring for MU.
