Late Outburst Lifts Baseball Over Heidelberg in Florida Finale

The Misericordia University baseball team defeated Heidelberg, 10–2, in its final spring break game of the season, Friday in Ft. Pierce, FL.

Ben St. Pierre went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored while Jake McDonough connected for a home run.

Bryan Henry tossed seven innings to earn the win.

Heidelberg scored the first two runs of the game in the top of the third inning, but Henry and three relievers held them scoreless the rest of the way.

Misericordia scored all 10 of its runs over its final two at bats.

Owen Daminger started a five-run seventh with a single to left field McDonough followed with a home run to tie the game. Drew Van Horn singled and scored on a Brooks Kanwisher double to give the Cougars the lead. MU added two more runs in the inning on a Bryant Diaz double to take a 5-2 lead.

Misericordia extended its lead with five more runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. Michael Duda singled to left field and advanced to third on a Van Horn double. St. Pierre singled in a run and Van Horn scored on a wild pitch. After a Kanwisher walk, another run scored on a Gavin Dillard double. Diaz and Ethan Elmes were both hit by pitches, bringing in two more runs to make it 10-2.

Aidan Paduck worked a scoreless eighth and Zak Lussier got out of a bases-loaded jam in the ninth.
