The Misericordia University men's lacrosse team defeated Immaculata, 13–5, Sunday at Mangelsdorf Field.
Jack Simone led the Cougars with four goals and four assists. Ian Young followed with three goals while Jason Giambrone, Jake Louis and Ty Murawski all scored two goals.
Leyton Sullivan made 17 saves in goal to earn the win.
After a quick goal off the opening faceoff put the Mighty Macs ahead 1–0, Misericordia scored five straight goals in the first quarter.
Just a minute after Immaculata's opening goal, Young tied the game at one, whipping a shot into the left corner of the net after strong ball movement by the Cougars.
The Cougars took the lead when Murawski scored from the left wing inside near the post and Giambrone added another from the top of the circle to make it 3–1 with 9:57 left in the quarter.
MU added two more in the final five minutes of the period with Simone driving from the right side and Louis scoring off a perfect pass through crease and stuffing a shot inside the left post to give Misericordia a 5–1 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Misericordia added two more goals in the second quarter. Young scored his second of the game while taking a pass in stride with 12:25 left and Simone tucked in a shot from the left side with 10:32 remaining in the half.
Immaculata ended the Cougars scoring run with 4:51 left before halftime, making it 7–2 at the break.
Misericordia opened the second half with two more goals. Simone scored his third on a low shot inside the left post and Murawski bounced in a shot from the left wing, giving the Cougars a 9–2 lead with 9:17 left in the third quarter.
Immaculata answered with a goal, but Young completed his hat trick on a fast break, ripping a low shot inside the right post to give Misericordia a 10–3 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
The Cougars added two more goals early in the final quarter.
Giambrone bounced a shot inside t the right post and Louis finished a fast break with a shot under the crossbar with 10:04 remaining.
Simone sealed the win with his fourth goal on a bounced shot inside the right post.
