Baseball Downs Elmira in Non-Conference Contest

The Misericordia University baseball team defeated Elmira, 14-3, Sunday at Tambur Field.
 
Owen Daminger had three hits, including a three-run homer.  He had four RBI, scored three runs and struck out five batters over three innings.
 
Joe Peters added three hits with four RBI and a run scored and Shane Patten had three hits and scored three runs.
 
Bryant Diaz had two hits, including a solo home run.
 
Alan Warren picked up his first win of the season out of the bullpen and Dante DeLeonibus and Lucas Lerch combined for three shutout innings.
 
Elmira scored the first run in the game in the top of the first, but the Cougars responded with four runs in the bottom half of the inning. Brooks Kanwisher was hit by a pitch and later scored on Patten's single.  Daminger doubled to left center to put MU in front. Peters was hit by a pitch and Owen Cordner singled through the left side to make it 3-1.  The Cougars added another run on an error to take a 4-1 lead after one inning.
 
MU kept adding runs in the second inning. Kanwisher doubled to left field, and Gavin Dillard reached on an error and crushed a ball over the center field fence to put MU in front, 7-1.
 
Diaz blasted a home run to left center to give MU an 8-1 lead through four innings.
 
Patten and Daminger hit back-to-back singles and Peters ripped a triple into right center to make it 10-3.
 
Ethan Elmes led off the eighth inning with a single to right field. An infield single by Diaz and a single through the right side by Patten loaded the bases. Aidan Paduck's pinch-hit single drove in a run. A wild pitch scored a run and Peters doubled to drive in two runs to make it 14-3.
