Baseball Rallies to Take Series Opener From Arcadia

The Misericordia University baseball team defeated Arcadia, 9-7, Friday.
 
Brooks Kanwisher had two hits with two RBI and a run scored and Owen Cordner added two hits with an RBI and three runs scored, including a solo home run.
 
Owen Daminger had two RBI and a run scored and Michael Duda added two hits with an RBI and a run scored.
 
Alex Polombo picked up his second win of the season while Aidan Paduck secured his second save.
 
Down 3-0 after one inning, the Cougars scored in four straight innings from the third through the sixth.
 
Duda singled to left field to lead off the third and advanced to second on a wild pitch before coming home on Gavin Dillard's sacrifice fly to left.
 
The Cougars added two more runs in the fourth inning. Daminger was hit by a pitch and scored on Joe Peters' RBI-double to left field.  Peters scored on Duda's sac fly to tie the score, 3-3.
 
Kanwisher and Dillard hit back-to-back singles to start the fifth and both advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Shane Patten. Daminger singled up the middle to score both of them to tie the game, 5-5.
 
Misericordia added in the sixth inning. Cordner walked and scored on Duda's double down the left field to get the Cougars within 7-6 through six innings.
 
Cordner led the off the eighth inning with an infield single and advanced to second on an error. Ben St. Pierre was hit by a pitch and Kanwisher knocked in two runs with a double down the left field line to give Misericordia an 8-7 lead.
 
Cordner added an insurance run by launching a home run over to left in the top of the ninth.
 
Polombo worked three scoreless innings in relief to the win and Paduck tossed a perfect ninth.
