Baseball Edges Maritime for 11th Straight Win

The Misericordia University baseball team beat Maritime, 9-8, Wednesday afternoon at Tambur Field.
 
The Cougars won their 11th straight game to improve to 20-7.
 
Brooks Kanwisher went 2-3 with two RBI and one run scored and Bryant Diaz added two hits with a RBI and a run scored.
 
Dante DeLeonibus pitched one scoreless inning to earn his first win out of the bullpen and Aidan Paduck struck out three over two innings to secure his first save of the season.
 
Maritime scored in each of its first two at bats, but the Cougars scored seven runs in the next three innings to take a 7-2 lead.
 
Michael Duda sacrifice fly and Ben St. Pierre's RBI-double tied the score in the bottom of the second.
 
Misericordia added two more runs in the bottom of the third. Diaz and Shane Patten hit back-to-back singles and Patten stole second to put two runners in scoring position.  Joe Peters hit a RBI groundout to give the Cougars the lead and Kanwisher blooped a single into right field for his 100th career hit and 4-2 MU lead.
 
The Cougars added three more runs in the bottom of the fourth. Owen Daminger walked and reached third on a stolen base and passed ball. Patten walked and stole second to put two runners in scoring position. Gavin Dillard slapped a single through the left side to score both of them and Kanwisher hit an infield single to score one more to make it 7-2.
 
The Privateers fought all the way back, scoring two runs in the fifth and three runs in the sixth to tie the game at seven.
 
St. Pierre lined a single to center field to open the seventh and stole second. Diaz hit a RBI single and later scored on Patten's infield single.
 
Paduck retired the side in order in the ninth.
