Misericordia University Athletics

The Misericordia University men's soccer team drew with #14 Scranton, 1-1, Wednesday at Mangelsdorf Field.
 
Elijah Uray scored the lone goal for the Cougars with the assist coming from Spencer Pisani.
 
Santino Jannotte racked up nine saves in his first start of the season in net.
 
Misericordia got their first shot in the eighth minute when Uray's free kick was just wide of the net.
 
MU struck shortly afterwards when Pisani crossed the ball directly in front of the net and Uray timed his run perfectly and poked the ball into the right side of the net at 13:15.
 
The Royals tried to draw even with nine shots unanswered, but the MU defense and goalkeeping of Misericordia held firm for most of the half.
 
Scranton equalized with less than five minutes left in the first half when a Royals shot deflected off an MU defender.
 
Misericordia had a chance to break the deadlock early in the second half when Noah Romero crossed the ball into the box where Reese Dieffenderfer headed it just wide of the goal at 47:02.
 
Jannotte kept the game scoreless at 49:32 with a diving save to his left.
 
Brody Eisenhart produced another shot for the Cougars from outside the box, but it zipped just high of the net.
 
Jannotte secured two more saves to keep the game tied for the rest of the way.
