The Misericordia University women's volleyball team lost a tough 3-0 decision at Stevens, Tuesday.
Stevens won 25-21, 25-17, 25-23.
Cassandra Genduso led the Cougars with nine kills and
Keira McCaffrey and
Taylor Marsh had six kills each.
McCaffrey had four blocks and two aces and
Olivia Conza had 15 assists.Â
Maggie Duda added 10 digs.
Down 13-5 in the opening set, the Cougars clawed back within 18-17.
McCaffrey's kill combined with three Stevens errors capped a 4-0 run to get the Cougars within a point.
McCaffrey and
Sarah Steeber combined for a block on the right side to get within 21-20, but the Ducks closed on a 4-1 run.
Duda had an ace as the Cougars opened the second set on a 4-0 run.
Stevens scored 15 of the next 16 points to take a 15-5 lead and went on to win 25-17.
Genduso had four kills as MU opened the third set with a 6-1 lead.
Stevens rallied to eventually take an 18-13 lead, but the Cougars battled back again.
Marsh had two kills, including a cross court smash into the right corner, and combined with
Jennifer Nicometo for a block to cut the Ducks' lead to 19-17.
Down 23-20,
Isabella Lutter combined with McCaffrey for a block and had a kill in the left corner to keep MU alive at 24-23.
Stevens closed the match with a kill on the next point.
