Joe Scanlon scored the game's only goal with under two minutes remaining to lift the Misericordia University men's soccer team to a 1-0 win over Arcadia in their season opener, Friday at Mangelsdorf Field.
Joe DiGirolomo added the assist and
Andrew Loyd made four saves to earn the shutout.
The Cougars held a 17-5 advantage in shots and finally cashed in on their final scoring chance.
Midway through the first half, the Cougars had three near-misses.
After a Scanlon header went over the crossbar, the Arcadia keeper made a point-blank save on
Tyler Mensch from eight-yards out.
Cody Hack followed by rolling a shot through the box that went just wide of the right post.
MU will host Ursinus, Saturday at 2:00.
