Jeff Slanovec blasted a three-run homer in the eighth inning to the lead the Misericordia University baseball team to a 13-7 win at Swarthmore, Sunday afternoon.
Slanovec had three hits and three RBI and
Brandon Calafut drove in two runs on two hits while
Nate Newman added two hits and three RBI.
Mike Murphy had two hits and
Scott Huddle and
Nick Kauffman both had sacrifice flies in a two-run seventh
Trailing 7-6, Calafut's RBI-single tied the score in the top of the eighth before Slanovec's homer put MU ahead, 10-7.
The Cougars added three insurance runs in the ninth on a two-run triple by Newman and Calafut's RBI-double.
Max Weintraub allowed just two hits and one earned run in four innings of relief to pick up the win.
Misericordia, 10-7, will begin Freedom Conference play when they host Wilkes in their home opener, Tuesday at 3:30.
