The Misericordia University baseball team won its fourth straight game, 8-5 in 10 innings, Tuesday at Alvernia.
The Cougars scored four runs in the top of the 10th to make a winner of
Dave Smith who worked three innings of relief.
Jamie Philippi started and scattered seven hits over seven innings while striking out eight.
Mike D'Amara had a two-run single in the eighth and
Nick Kauffman had a pair of RBI-singles.
Kauffman drove in MU's first two runs with singles in the fourth and sixth innings and the Cougars added two runs on an error to take a 4-2 lead in the sixth.
After
Jeff Slanovec led off the 10th inning with a triple,
Cody Hack drew a one-out walk and both runners scored on a misplayed grounder.
The Cougars added two insurance runs on D'Amara's hit.
D'Amara had three hits while Slanovec, Kauffman, Philippi and
Brandon Calafut all added two hits.
MU improved to 15-11 and 4-4 in the Freedom Conference and will host Scranton in a non-league game, Wednesday at 3:30.
