The Misericordia University baseball team suffered a 3-2 loss at home to Alvernia Thursday to fall to 15-13 (4-6 Freedom).
The Cougars got off to an early lead in the second. Nick Kauffman and Jamie Philippi pulled off a successful double steal that sent Kauffman from first to second and Philippi from third home.
Kauffman came around to score the Cougars only other run in the seventh inning. Down 2-1, Cody Hack doubled to right to score Kauffman from second and knot the game at 2-2.
The Crusaders took a 3-2 lead in the eighth on an RBI double.
Max Weintraub started for the Cougars. He battled through 5 1/3 innings, allowing two runs on four hits and four walks. Ryan Dauley earned the loss after taking the ball in the sixth. He allowed just one run on two hits and a walk.
The Cougars host King's Monday at 3:30 p.m.
