The Misericordia University women's lacrosse team suffered a devastating 13-12 conference loss at Manhattanville Thursday evening to drop to 3-9 (2-5 MAC).

The game held promise early on when, down 2-0, the Cougars stitched together a 5-0 run. Shannon Tinkham struck first with the first of her four goals at 15:39 in the first half.

The Cougar defense, led by goalkeeper Kathryn Wallace, held Manhattanville scoreless until 4:35 in the half. Tinkham scored with 1:41 to play before break to give the Cougars a 6-4 lead heading into halftime.

Manhattanville battled in the second half and claimed a lead. Down 13-10, Jamie Wargo and Nicole DeAngelis scored goals in the final three minutes of play, but the Cougar offense couldn't tie the game in the final minute.

DeAngelis led the team with five goals. Tinkham had four goals and an assist, and Wargo scored a pair of goals.

Wallace made 18 saves in the cage and earned the loss after playing all 60 minutes.

The Cougars host Scranton on Tuesday.
