The Misericordia University women's lacrosse team hung around early but was out-scored 13-1 over the final 40:10 as the Cougars fell 19-6 to Eastern in their conference opener.

Brittany Schorr scored four goals on just five shots to lead MU. Sophomore Emily Foley added two goals.

Freshman goalie Brenna Bakera stopped 15 shots in the losing effort. Sophomore Danielle Gross was active for the Cougars, picking up four ground balls and causing a pair of turnovers.

Foley got the Cougars off to a solid start, opening the scoring 46 seconds into the game and then adding another at 26:45 to put MU up 2-1.

While the Eagles answered with three straight goals, Schorr grabbed a hat-trick of her own in a span of just over four minutes. Her third goal, rifled in from the right side, pulled MU to within one and made the score 6-5 Eastern.

Misericordia would only manage one more tally for the rest of the game however, again coming from Schorr with 20:46 remaining in the game.

Bakera turned in several nice saves, including a breakaway save midway through the first half and a tough stop right after halftime, but the Eagles eventually wore a thin Cougar team out, out-scoring the hosts 10-1 in the second period.

The Eagles were led by junior Grace Griffith, who totaled 10 points on seven goals and three assists. Jess Field, Kelly Dando and Kendall Rood had three goals each.

The Cougars fall to 1-2, 0-1 and travel to Lycoming on March 24.
