Emily Foley scored four goals but the Misericordia women's lacrosse team fell 18-5 at Widener, Saturday in a MAC conference game.
Foley scored three straight times for MU in the second half as the Cougars crept to within 11-5 with 11:49 to play.
Widener would score the last seven goals of the game however, pulling away with two goals in a 12-second span to go up 13-5 with nine minutes remaining.
Freshman
Brenna Bakera made nine saves in goal for the Cougars.
Krista Shenk picked up three ground balls and caused a pair of turnovers.
Widener had jumped all over the Cougars early, taking a 4-0 lead just 3:33 into the game. The Pride stretched their advantage to 8-0 before Foley got Misericordia on the board with an unassisted goal.
Widener would add two more late points for a 10-1 halftime scoreline.
Camilla Hansen scored on a free position shot to open the second half scoring as MU tallied four of the next five goals to pull within six.
Misericordia falls to 1-5, 0-4 with the loss. The Cougars travel to FDU-Florham on Tuesday.
