The Misericordia University women's lacrosse team dropped a heartbreaking 10-9 decision in overtime, Saturday at Arcadia.
Emily Foley led the Cougars with four goals and an assist and
Krista Shenk added three goals.
Brittany Schorr and
Camilla Hansen both had a goal and
Brenna Bekera made seven saves in goal.
Arcadia grabbed an early 2-0 lead before Foley got the Cougars on the board 10 minutes into the first half.
After the Knights went ahead 4-1 one minute later, Shenk, Hansen and Foley all scored in a five-minute span late in the half to forge a 4-4 tie at halftime.
Arcadia took a 6-4 lead early in the second period, but Shenk, Schorr and Foley scored three straight goals to give MU its first lead, 7-6, with 14:11 to go.
Arcadia went ahead 8-7 with 2:26 left, but Shenk answered less a minute later to tie it, 8-8.
Foley gave the Cougars a 9-8 lead in OT, but Arcadia scored twice in the final minute, including the game-winner with just seven seconds remaining.
The Cougars are 2-9 and will host Manhattanville, Wednesday.
