Despite five goals each from
Natasha Jankowsky and
Emily Foley, the Misericordia University women's lacrosse team lost to Manhattanville, 15-12, Wednesday at Mangelsdorf Field.
Brittany Schorr and
Camilla Hansen both added goals for the Cougars and
Brenna Bakera made seven saves in goal.
Manhattanville grabbed a 4-1 lead midway through the opening period before Hansen and Jankowsky scored goals just 22 seconds apart to get within 4-3.
Trailing 5-3, Jankowsky sandwiched a pair of goals around one by Foley to give the Cougars a 6-5 lead with 7:05 remaining in the first half.
The Valiants closed the half on a 3-0 run to take an 8-6 halftime lead.
Manhattanville opened the second half with a pair of man-up goals for a 10-6 lead. Foley scored to make it 10-7 just over three minutes into the second half, but Manhattanville scored four straight goals to take a 14-7 lead with 17:29 to play.
Foley scored twice and Jankowsky added another as the Cougars closed to within 14-10 with 6:55 remaining.
Schorr and Jankowsky both scored to MU within 15-12 with three minutes to play.
The Cougars will play at Wilkes, Saturday.
