Dani Gross scored the game-winning goal with 11 seconds remaining to lift the Misericordia University women's lacrosse team to a 14-13 win at Wilkes, Saturday.
Emily Foley and
Krista Shenk had four goals each for the Cougars and
Natasha Jankowsky added three goals and an assist.
Gross had two goals and
Brittany Schorr scored once.
Brenna Bakera made 11 stops in net.
Foley scored MU's first two goals as the teams played to a 2-2 tie over the first nine minutes. Shenk gave the Cougars a 3-2 lead midway through the half, but Wilkes scored three straight goals to take a 5-3 lead with 8:25 remaining.
Jankowsky and Gross sandwiched goals around a Wilkes tally and the Cougars headed to inermission down 6-5.
Shenk opened the second half with a short-handed goal to tie it at 6-6, but Wilkes scored three straight goals to take an 9-6 lead with 21:00 to play.
Jankowsky and Schorr scored goals in a 29-second span to make it 9-8 and Foley scored twice to give MU a 10-9 lead with 13:57 remaining.
Wilkes responded with three consecutive goals to go ahead, 12-10, with 8:59 to go.
Shenk and Jankowsky scored less than 30 seconds apart to give MU a 13-12 lead with 3:39 left, but Wilkes tied it again with just under a minute to go.
Gross tallied her game-winner with 11 seconds to play.
The Cougars earned their first MAC win while improving to 3-10 overall.
MU will host King's, Tuesday at 4:00.
