J.R. Lauri had three goals and three assists and Lee Blair added three goals to lead the Misericordia University men's lacrosse team to a 14-11 win in their season finale, Saturday at Alvernia.

Matt Gonzalzez scored three goals and Pat McTague had two goals and an assist while Kyle Calabro, Dean Tilton and Zach Buckley all added goals.

Michael Orabona made six saves to earn the win in goal.

McTague and Lauri scored unassisted goals to give MU a 2-0 lead just two minutes into the first quarter, but Alvernia rallied for five straight goals to grab a 5-2 lead after the opening period.

Gonzalez and McTague scored back-to-back goals to get the Cougars within 5-4 midway through the second quarter.

After the Crusaders went ahead 6-4, Buckley and Blair scored to knot the score, 6-6, heading to halftime.

Lauri scored to open the third quarter and give the Cougars a 7-6 lead, but Alvernia scored twice to take an 8-7 lead with 6:08 to play in the stanza.

Tilton tied it a minute later and Calabro put MU ahead for good with 2:41 left in the third.

Gonzalez made it 10-8 with 2:16 remaining in the period.

Gonzalez put the Cougars up, 11-9, early in the fourth and Balir made it 12-10 with 10:05 to play.

Alvernia pulled within 12-11 with 7:39 to go, but Lauri scored with 4:33 remaining and Blair added an insurance goal with 1:57 left.

MU finished 4-12 overall and 2-9 in the MAC.
