The Misericordia University women's lacrosse team dropped its season finale to Alvernia, 17-7, Saturday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.
Emily Foley led the Cougars with three goals and an assist and
Krista Shenk added a goal and two assists.
Natasha Jankowsky had a goal and an assist and
Shannon Tinkham and
Jessica Brown both scored goals.
Tinkham, MU's all-time leading scorer, played her final career game along with classmate
Brittany Schorr.
Foley gave the Cougars an early 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal less than two minutes into the game.
Alvernia ran off six straight goals before Jankowsky and Brown scored late in the first half to within 6-3 at halftime.
The Crusaders opened the second half with a 7-0 run before Tinkham scored with an assist from Jankowsky with 18:38 to play.
Trailing 14-4, Foley and Shenk assisted on each others' goals to make it 14-6 with 15:13 remaining.
Foley scored MU's final goal with 2:35 to go.
Brenna Bakera made 18 saves in goal for the Cougars who finished 4-11 overall and 3-9 in the MAC.
