Despite five goals from
Kate Pagnotta, the Misericordia University women's lacrosse team lost to Arcadia, 17-6, Saturday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.
Emily Foley and
Catie Viegas both had goals for the Cougars and
Kate Pagnotta and
Krista Shenk added assists.
Pagnotta kept the Cougars in the game throughout much of the first hal as she scored MU's first three goals.
Arcadia scored twice in a 35-second span to take a 2-0 lead with 17:06 to play in the first half before Pagnotta scored on a free position shot to make it 2-1 at 13:45.
She came from behind the net to score unassisted to tie the score, 2-2, with 11:59 to play in the half.
After an Arcadia goal, Pagnotta used a nice spin move to score again and tie it at 3-3 with 9:17 remaining.
The Knights ended the first half on a 4-0 spurt to take a 7-3 halftime lead.
Trailing 8-3 early in the second, Foley scored with an assist from Shenk to make it 8-4 with 25:56 left.
Arcadia pulled ahead, 11-4 before Pagnotta scored at 14:01 and fed Viegas at 10:58 to make it 11-6.
Pagnotta added another unassisted goal with less than five minutes to play.
Colleen Hunt made nine saves in goal for MU.
The Cougars will visit Lebanon Valley, Tuesday.
