Despite another big game from
Emily Foley, the Misericordia University women's lacrosse team lost to Widener, 20-11, Saturday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.
Foley had five goals and one assist to lead the Cougars attack while
Kate Pagnotta added three goals and an assist.
Gabriella Cerrone had a goal and an assist and
Camilla Hansen and Dani Gross both added goals for MU.
Widener went ahead 2-0 before Gross got MU on the board with an assist from Cerrone at 27:04.
After two more Pride goals, Pagnotta scored on a free position shot that was initially saved, but ended up in the back of the net at 19:20.
Cerrone made it 7-4 when she took a pass from Pagnotta and placed a shot inside the left post with 1:29 to play before halftime.
Widener scored twice in the final 35 seconds of the half to take a 9-4 lead at intermission.
Foley put on an impressive offensive display early in the second half as she scored three goals in a four-minute span to keep the Cougars in the game.
She made run from near midfield to score unassisted to get within 10-5 with 28:12 remaining.
Foley followed that with a low shot inside the left post to make it 11-6 at 26:28 and made a nice run down the middle of the field before finishing inside the right post to get within 13-7 with 24:00 to play.
Foley made another nice run down the middle before feeding Hansen who scored on a low shot to make it 13-8 with 22:42 to go.
Pagnotta made a nice move and shot just under the crossbar and tallied on a free position shot to get within 16-10 and Foley closed out MU's scoring with a deflected shot with 10:20 to play.
MU, 2-7/0-6, will visit King's, Wednesday at 4:00.
