4/28/2011 5:45:25 PM

Despite two goals from Emily Foley the Misericordia University women's lacrosse team fell 20-6 to Scranton, Thursday in its season finale.

Misericordia had a fantastic start to the game, taking a 2-0 lead within the first three minutes. Foley scored on a free position attempt at 28:42, before Sydnie Battle made her defender fall down and scored to put the Cougars ahead by two.

Scranton scored the next three goals to surge into the lead. Seven minutes into the action, MU goalie Colleen Hunt made a great double-save on a Scranton attack from close range to keep her team within one.

The Royals kept pushing and stretched the lead to double-digits late in the first half. Catie Viegas made it 13-4 after beating several defenders to score with 1:20 left in the period.

Krista Shenk and Gabrielle Cerrone also scored for the Cougars. Shenk and freshman Kate Pagnotta added assists.

Misericordia finishes its 2011 campaign with a 3-13 record.
