Men's Lacrosse Sets School Wins Record

Calabro, Lauri Score Four Times

J.R. Lauri and Kyle Calabro both scored four goals as the Misericordia University men's lacrosse team set a new school record for wins in a season with a 14-3 win over Alvernia, Saturday at Mangelsdorf Field.

Pat McTague had two goals and two assists and Lee Blair had two goals and an assist.
Zach Buckley and Nick Santillo both added goals.

Ryan Kay made six saves in goal for MU as the Cougars improved to 7-4 overall and 3-3 in the MAC.

Leading 5-1 at halftime, the Cougars scored seven times in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.

Calabro took a nice pass from McTague and whipped a shot just under the bar for a 6-1 lead at 11:27 of the third period.

Calabro's man-up goal made it 7-1 three minutes later.

McTague made a nice run down the middle of the field and slipped a shot inside the left post for an 8-1 lead with 5:46 remaining in the third.

Matt Gonzalez scooped a groundball off the ensuing face-off and found Lauri for a 9-1 advantage.

After Alvernia scored a man-up goal, Lauri sandwiched a pair of goals around a Calabro score in the closing minutes of the quarter for a 12-2 MU lead.

Lauri and Calabro closed out MU's scoring with goals early in the fourth quarter.

Buckely gave the Cougars the early lead with a drive and a shot just under the bar.

Santillo made it 2-0 with a nice feed from Frank McKenna at 11:00 of the first period.

After a Crusaders goal, Blair charged from behind the net and stuffed a goal from the left side for a 3-1 lead with 8:29 to go in the first.

Blair made it 4-1 midway through the second and McTague bounced a shot in just eight seconds before halftime for a 5-1 lead.

MU visits Lycoming, Wednesday.
