Christine Marks made school history while leading the Misericordia University women's basketball team to a come-from-behind 56-49 win over DeSales, Wednesday night at the Anderson Center.
Marks had a game-high 25 points to surpass Missy Longhi (1,365) as Misericordia's all-time leading scorer.
Marks added 10 rebounds and
Jesse Robinson had 10 points and seven rebounds for the Cougars who rallied from a 29-22 halftime deficit.
The Cougars took their first lead, 32-31, on a pair of free throws from
Hannah Seely with 16:05 to play and never looked back.
Kayla Sileo buried a three-pointer to give MU a 39-35 and ignite a 9-0 spurt.
Marks and
Lauren Smicherko both made two free throws and Marks added a layup on a nifty pass from
Tyann McDaniel for a 45-35 lead with 8:23 remaining.
Marks made a short jumper for a 47-36 lead and Robinson drained a three from the corner in front of the MU bench for MU's biggest lead of the night, 50-38, with 4:50 left.
DeSales cut it to 50-43, but Marks, McDaniel and Seely combined for six free throws over the final two minutes.
Misericordia improved to 7-7 overall and 4-1 in the Freedom.
