Christine Marks had a career-high 36 points to lead the Misericordia University women's basketball team to its fifth straight win, 74-57, at Marywood, Monday.
Marks added 17 rebounds and
Hannah Seely had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds and
Jesse Robinson added 10 points.
The Cougars jumped to a 6-0 lead and never trailed in the contest.
Seely scored four of MU's first six points and Marks had six points as the Cougars went ahead 10-5 less than five minutes into the game.
Marks' three-point play put the Cougars up 14-8 and a
Lauren Smicherko putback gave the Cougars an 18-11 advantage with 12:08 remaining in the first half.
The teams traded baskets throughout the rest of the half with Marywood getting within six points at intermission.
After a Marywood three-pointer to open the second half, the Cougars scored nine straight points for a 37-25 lead with 17:02 to go.
Tyann McDaniel started the run with a jumper just inside the arc and Robinson made back-to-back jumpers before Smicherko buried a three-pointer.
Marywood charged back to get within 39-35 with 11:24 left, but Marks responded with another three-point play for a 42-35 lead with 10:52 to go.
After the Pacers nailed a three-pointer to get within 43-38, Marks scored eight of Misericordia' s next 12 points to give the Cougars a 55-41 lead with under six minutes to play.
Marks scored four more points and McDaniel converted a three-point play for a 64-46 lead with under three minutes remaining.
The Cougars improved to 9-7 while handing Marywood their first home loss of the season. Misericordia will visit King's in a key Freedom Conference contest, Wednesday.
