Matt Gonzalez scored with two seconds remaining to lift the Misericordia University men's lacrosse team to an 8-7 come-from-behind win at Hood, Thursday.
Gonzalez,
J.R. Lauri and
Andrew Reynolds all scored twice for the Cougars who overcame a two-goal deficit entering the fourth quarter.
Sean McGuigan and
Lee Blair both added goals and
Patrick Johnson made 13 saves to earn the win.
Down 6-4 entering the final stanza, Lauri scored with an assist from Pat McTague with 12:17 to play and McGuigan tied it with an unassisted goal five minutes later.
Hood took a 7-6 lead with 5:31 to play, but Reynolds answered less than 30 seconds later with an assist from Lauri.
The teams remained scoreless over the next five minutes until Gonzalez took a pass from Johnson for the game-winner.
Hood took a 1-0 lead with a goal less than a minute into the game and Reynolds answered with an unassisted tally one minute later.
After Hood took a 2-1 lead, Blair tied tied it with 4:30 to play in the first quarter, but Hood ended the period with a 3-2 lead.
Lauri tied it early in the second, but Hood answered midway through the quarter to take a 4-3 halftime lead.
Hood sandwiched a pair of goals around Gonzalez' first goal of the game to take a 6-4 lead after three quarters to set up the MU rally.
Misericordia, 2-1, will host Mt. St. Vincent, Sunday at 1:00.
