The Misericordia University men's lacrosse team won its Freedom Conference opener, 13-5, Saturday at Manhattanville.
Andrew Reynolds led the Cougars with four goals while
Lee Blair added three goals and three assists and
Sean McGuigan and
Kyle Calabro scored two goals each.
Patrick Johnson made 13 saves in goal as the Cougars won their ninth straight game to improve to 10-1 overall and 1-0 in the Freedom.
The Cougars held a commanding 59-34 advantage in shots and jumped out to a 6-0 lead after one quarter.
Blair opened the scoring with a man-up goal at 11:25 and McGuigan made it 2-0 less than two minutes later.
McGuigan followed with a man-up goal at 5:29 and Reynolds scored unassisted less than 30 seconds later to make it 4-0.
Blair and Calabro added unassisted goals to close out the first-period scoring.
Reynolds and
Kyle Purvis both scored unassisted goals early in the second quarter to give MU an 8-0 lead.
Blair and
Sean Forsyth scored to give MU a 10-1 lead with 6:56 to go in the third.
After a Manhattanville goal, Calabro scored to make it 11-2 with 1:45 left in the period.
The teams traded goals in the fourth quarter with Reynolds scoring twice for Misericordia.
MU will host DeSales, Tuesday at 7:00.
