Despite five goals from
Brooke North, the Misericordia University women's lacrosse team fell to Manhattanville, 23-13, Saturday at Mangelsdorf Field.
Gabriella Cerrone added three goals for the Cougars and
Sydnie Battle scored twice while
Krista Shenk had a goal and four assists.
Trailing 3-0 less than five minutes into the game, Cerrone got the Cougars on the board with a rebound goal in front of the net.
Manhattanville stretched the lead to 7-1 before
Kelsey Maas found North in front of the cage to make it 7-2 with 17:14 remaining in the first half.
Down 10-2, North took a nice feed from Shenk to make it 10-3 with 8:48 to go.
Emily Foley converted a steal into a goal to make it 10-4 less than a minute later.
MU scored twice in the final 70 seconds of the half to cut the deficit to 12-6.
Shenk made a run off a turnover near midfield and found North in front of the cage and Jenny Perrucca took a nice pass from Foley.
Cerrone opened the second half with a man-up goal to get within 12-7, but the Valiants regained control with three straight goals.
Misericordia, 4-9, will visit Wilkes, Tuesday.
