The Misericordia women's lacrosse team defeated Wilkes, 27-18, Tuesday at Wilkes.
Gabriella Cerrone scored six goals and added an assist and
Melina Juliano scored five goals and added two helpers.
Krista Shenk and
Emily Foley both had nine points.
MU opened the game with a 5-1 run, highlighted by two goals by Cerrone and Juliano each. Wilkes responded with a 6-2 run to tie it at seven with 11 minutes left in the first half.
The teams traded goals until it was tied at 11 at the half.
MU outscored the Colonels 16-7 in the second half to earn their first Freedom Conference victory.
The Cougars came out of the half with an 8-2 run with goals by
Brooke North, Shenk and Foley.
Emily Hegner scored a man-down and Juliano added two goals to make it 19-13 with 16:20 left in the game.
Wilkes went on a 3-1 run to pull within four, but the Cougars roared back scoring six straight to go up by 10 with 6:27 left.
The Cougars are 5-9 (1-3) and will host Eastern, Saturday at 1:00.
