The Misericordia University men's lacrosse season came to a heartbreaking end with a 10-9 loss to Marywood in the ECAC Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships, Saturday night at McDaniel College.
After Misericordia took a 9-6 lead early in the fourth period, Marywood scored four unanswered goals over the final eight minutes, including the game-winner with two seconds remaining.
Lee Blair led Misericordia with two goals and three assists to set a new school single-season scoring record with 65 points.
Josh Schwartz added two goals and
Andrew Reynolds,
Sean McGuigan and Nick Santillo both had a goal and an assist.
Patrick Johnson made 10 saves in goal.
After Marywood took an early 1-0 lead, Blair scored unassisted to tie it with 6:45 to play in the first period.
Marywood went ahead 2-1 with 3:43 to play and Schwartz tied it just over a minute later.
McTague took a feed from Blair to give Misericordia its first lead, 3-2, with 1:34 to go in the first quarter.
Schwartz opened the second period with a goal to make it 4-2.
After a Pacers goal, Blair scored unassisted for a 5-3 lead with 5:34 to go before halftime.
Tied 5-5 early in the third, McGuigan put the Cougars ahead 6-5 with 11:31 to go in the period.
Marywood evened midway through the quarter and the Cougars responded with a 3-0 run.
Bodnar scored unassisted to give Misericordia a 7-6 lead after three periods.
Reynolds and Nick Santillo scored early in the fourth quarter to give the Cougars a 9-6 advantage with 12:16 remaining.
The Pacers made it 9-7 with 7:54 left and scored three times in final 3:24.
Misericordia finished 11-5.
