The Misericordia University men's lacrosse team could never get its offense going as the Cougars dropped a 6-2 game at Elizabethtown on Saturday afternoon.
Adam Lehnhard and Nick Santillo each scored a goal for the Cougars.
In a game where both teams struggled to score, Elizabethtown struck first on a Tucker Keefer goal just over a minute in. Santillo would answer just two minutes later to net the score at 1-1, but Keefer found teammate Cory Boushell with 8:36 remaining in the first quarter to give Elizabethtown a 2-1 lead.
Defense and turnovers defined the remainder of the first half, as neither team found the back of the net, sending the Cougars trailing by one at the break.
The Cougars got a big goal from Lenhard with 12:18 remaining in the third to break the scoring drought and even the score at 2-2. The Blue Jays wouldn't be deterred on this day, however, as Craig Hunsburger put E'Town back on top just ten seconds later. The Blue Jays added three fourth quarter goals while holding MU scoreless to preserve the victory.
Patrick Johnson made four saves in goal during the first half while
Josh Shanker took the loss despite making eight second-half saves.
The Cougars will look to get back on track when they host York on Tuesday.
