Kyle Calabro scored a career-high six goals and added two assists as the Misericordia University men's lacrosse team cruised to an 11-2 victory over Manhattanville in Freedom Conference action at Mangelsdorf Field on Saturday afternoon.

Nick Santillo posted two goals and an assist for the Cougars (7-5, 2-1 Freedom) while JR Lauri recorded one goal and three assists.  Matt Gonzalez and Trevor Bodnar also one goal each.

It was Bodnar who got the Cougars on the board, scoring an unassisted goal to give MU a 1-0 lead with 12:10 remaining in the first period.

Calabro notched his first goal less than a minute later to extend the lead to 2-0 and then found a cutting Santillo for a goal with 8:26 to play in the first.

Calabro scored for the second time with 7:35 remaining to extend the lead to 4-0.  The Cougars had several good looks in the remainder of the period but the Valiants' Ray Zimlin came up with several key saves to hold the margin at four through one quarter of play.

MU wasted little time extending their lead in the second quarter as Calabro notched his third goal with 13:11 remaining. Calabro found Lauri at the 9:30 mark, and Lauri converted to push the Cougar lead to 6-0.

Calabro made it a 7-0 advantage with 5:27 to play in the period, but the Valiants' Billy Motherway took advantage of a faceoff victory to put Manhattanville on the scoreboard with 4:28 remaining on an unassisted goal following a long offensive possession.

Lauri found Gonzalez who scored to extend the Cougar lead back to seven goals with 1:59 remaining, and final minute goals by Sanitllo and Calabro gave the Cougars a 10-1 halftime lead.

After a scoreless third quarter, the Valiants' Jack Polak scored with 10:56 remaining in the fourth before Calabro's sixth goal with 4:27 to play closed the scoring at 11-2.

Patrick Johnson earned the victory in goal for the Cougars, making six saves and allowing one goal during the first half, while Josh Shanker made five saves and allowed one goal during the second half.
