Box Score Patrick Johnson made 10 saves in goal to lead the Misericordia University men's lacrosse team to an impressive 8-1 win at DeSales, Wednesday.

Sean McGuigan had three goals and an assist and J.R. Lauri added a goal and two assists for the Cougars.

Matt Gonzalez, Josh Schwartz, Nick Santillo and Mason Quickel all added goals.

The Cougars led 2-1 at halftime and scored unanswered goals in the second half to improve to 8-5 overall and 3-1 in the Freedom Conference.

J.R. Lauri, McGuigan, Drew Abatangelo and Kyle Purvis all picked up three ground balls for the Cougars.

Gonzalez gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal with 5:05 to play in the first period and DeSales scored its only goal to tie it three minutes later.

Quickel put the Cougars ahead for good with an assist from Lauri with the only goal of the second quarter.

Santillo made it 3-1 with an assist from McGuigan early in the third quarter and the two changed roles on the next goal with 7:21 to play in the period.

MU put the game away with four goals in the fourth period.

Schwartz scored a man-up goal just over a minute into the fourth quarter and McGuigan made it 6-1 less than a minute later.

Lauri scored unassisted with 3:21 to go and McGuigan closed out the scoring with 30 seconds left.

Misericordia will host Eastern, Saturday.
