Box Score The Misericordia University men's lacrosse clinched the second seed in the upcoming Freedom Conference Championships with a 6-5 win at Arcadia, Saturday.
P.J. Johnson led a solid defensive effort with 11 saves as the Cougars finished 9-6 overall and 4-2 in the Freedom.
Adam Lenhard led the attack with a pair of goals while
Sean McGuigan added a goal and an assist, including his 100th career point.
Mason Quickel had a goal and an assist and
J.R. Lauri and Nick Santillo both added goals.
Lenhard led the Cougars with three groundballs while
Kyle Calabro had two groundballs and two caused turnovers.
Kyle Purvis added two caused turnovers for MU.
Lauri gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead with a goal just before the buzzer at the end of the first quarter.
Lenhard made it 2-0 just over a minute into the second period and McGuigan stretched the lead to 3-0 10 minutes later.
Arcadia got on the board with the only goal of the third period and made it 3-2 in the opening minute of the fourth quarter.
Quickel answered two minutes later to put MU ahead, 4-2, but the Knights got it back with 7:26 to go.
Lenhard and Santillo scored 30 seconds apart for a 6-3 lead with 6:13 remaining and the Knights scored a pair of goals in the final five minutes.
Misericordia will host DeSales in the Freedom semifinals, Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
