MU Men's Lacrosse Hosting Freedom Semifinal

The Misericordia University men's lacrosse team will make its first ever appearance in the Freedom Conference Championships when the Cougars host DeSales in a semifinal game, Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at Mangelsdorf Field.

Misericordia is seeded second after finishing the regular season 9-6 overall and 4-2 in the Freedom.  DeSales, the third seed, is 8-7 overall and 4-2 in the Freedom.  Misericordia won the regular season meeting,
8-1.

Ticket prices are $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and $2 for students.

Top-seeded Eastern will host King's in Wednesday's other semifinal with the winner's to meet for the Freedom Championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships, Saturday.

The Cougars are led by seven players who earned All-Freedom Conference status, including senior defender Drew Abatangelo, who was named to the second-team for the second straight season.

Abatangelo led the team with 42 ground balls and caused 16 turnovers while anchoring an MU defense that allowed just 7.44 goals per game.

Sophomore goalie Patrick Johnson also made the second-team after finishing second in the conference and 21st nationally in save percentage (.619) and third in the conference in goals against average (7.21).

Senior attacks Kyle Calabro and Sean McGuigan also earned second-team honors along with junior Nick Santillo.

Calabro led the team in scoring on 39 points (23g, 16a) and McGuigan was third on the team with 19 goals.  Santillo led the team with 25 goals and was second in points (38) and assists (13).
 
Junior defenders Jared Hunt and Matt Martins both earned honorable mention.
    
Hunt started all 15 games and collected 30 groundballs while Martins made 10 starts and collected 13 groundballs.

Senior J.R. Lauri is third on the team in scoring with 30 points (17g, 13a).
