Box Score The Misericordia University women's lacrosse team opened its season firing on all cylinders in a 20-2 win at Rosemont College on Thursday afternoon.
Kate Pagnotta and
Melina Juliano had five goals each for the Cougars, while
Jenny Perucca had three goals. Allie Elmes,
Brooke North,
Liz Mulvey each had two goals and
Emily Hegner had a goal and an assist for MU.
Jennifer South and Powell Davis had one goal each for Rosemont (0-1).
The Cougars (1-0) opened the game on an 11-0 run, ignited by goals from Pagnotta, Juliano, Hegner, Elmes and Perucca. Rosemont got on the board with 6:52 left in the first half.
The Cougars finished the half on a 9-1 run securing the big victory in their season opener.
Misericordia outshot Rosemont 33-8 en route to the victory.
Kate McLaughlin and
Jenn Gazdick gave up just one goal each and faced a combined eight shots.Â
MU travels to Puerto Rico for a game against St. John Fisher on March 5, as well as a game against Roanoke on March 6. The Cougars will play their first home game March 11 against Hartwick.Â
