Box Score The Misericordia University men's lacrosse team rallied past Neumann for a 10-9 win, Wednesday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.
Devin Velekei led the Cougars with three goals and an assist while Lane Kocovski added two goals and an assist and
Trevor Bodnar scored twice.
Andrew Reynolds had a goal and two assists and won 19 of 21 face offs and collected 14 groundballs.
Patrick Johnson made 11 saves in goal.
Kocovski added six groundballs and
Jared Hunt had four groundballs and three caused turnovers.
Misericordia grabbed an early 1-0 lead when
Jack Stang found Bodnar from behind the net and he fired a shot inside the right post with 10:21 to play in the first period.
Neumann answered with two goals in the first goal and tallied the only two scores of the second quarter to take a 4-1 halftime lead.
Playing the third quarter in a driving rain, the Knights scored midway through the stanza to take a 5-1 lead.
MU responded with four straight goals to tie pull even.
Reynolds took a face off and raced down the right side before driving across the middle and finishing inside the right post at 8:42.
Kocovski took a pass in front from Velekei and made it 5-3 just with 7:06 to play in the period.
Kocovski returned the favor as he found Velekei off a turnover to get MU within a goal with 6:15 to go.
Andrew Bath closed out the third-quarter scoring when he whipped a shot inside the right post for a man-up goal to make it 5-5 with 1:02 remaining.
Neumann scored three of the next four goals to take an 8-6 lead with just under 10 minutes to play.
Velekei fired a shot from the right side to get back within a goal and Bodnar drove down the right side to score the tying goal with 8:20 to play.
Reynolds took the ensuing face off and sprinted down the middle and found
Patrick Kellish for the go-ahead goal just five seconds later.
Kocovski fired a shot under the crossbar for a man-up goal and a 10-8 lead with 2:21 remaining.
Neumann made it 10-9 with 1:43 to play, but the Cougars held on for the win.
Misericordia will travel to Immaculata, Saturday.
