Box Score The Misericordia University women's lacrosse team used a big second half to beat the University of Scranton, 12-8, Thursday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.
Melina Juliano led the Cougars with three goals while
Kate Pagnotta,
Liz Mulvey,
Erin Baker and Allie Elmes all scored twice.
Jenn Gazdick made six saves in goal to earn the win.
Juliano added eight draw controls and
Rachael Taylor had three draw controls for the Cougars.
Elmes gave the Cougars an early 1-0 lead, but Scranton answered with two straight goals.
Juliano tied it, 2-2, at 24:47 and the score stood for 10 minutes until the Royals took a 3-2 lead.
Pagnotta used a nice spin move at the top of the circle and drove down the middle to pull MU even with 8:18 to play in the first half.
Juliano followed with a free position shot and Mulvey bounced in a shot with 5:22 to go and the Cougars took a 5-3 lead into halftime.
After Pagnotta stuffed a shot under the crossbar and Elmes' shot deflected off the Scranton goalie to give the Cougars a 7-4 lead with 22:12 remaining, Scranton scored three straight goals to pull even with 18:55 to play.
Brooke North gave the Cougars the lead for good as she ignited a 5-0 run with a free position goal with 18:04 to go.
Mulvey made it 9-7 five minutes later and
Erin Baker score a pair of goals less than a minute apart to put MU ahead, 11-7, with 5:43 left.
Juliano capped MU's scoring to make it 12-7 with 4:43 to play.
Misericordia improved to 2-6 and will host SUNY Morrisville, Saturday at 1:00.
