Box Score The Misericordia University men's lacrosse team dropped a heartbreaking 10-9 decision to FDU-Florham in their Freedom Conference opener, Wednesday night at Mangelsdorf Field.
Nick Santillo led the Cougars with four goals and
Lane Kocovsky added three goals and an assist.
Patrick Johnson made 11 saves in goal for the Cougars.
Santillo scored three goals in the third quarter to give the Cougars an 8-6 lead heading into the final stanza.
After the Devils scored three straight goals to take a 9-8 lead, Santillo scored again to tie it with 3:05 to play.
FDU-Florham netted the game-winner with less than 30 seconds to play.
Kocovsky gave the Cougars 1-0 on the game's first possession off an assist from
Mason Quickel.
FDU went ahead 2-1 and Santillo tied it in the closing seconds of the first period.
The Devils went ahead 3-2 in the opening minute of the second quarter, but Kocovsky answered a minute later with an assist from
Trevor Bodnar.
Reynolds scored unassisted to give the Cougars a 4-3 lead with 9:08 remaining, but the Devils scored twice over the final eight minutes to take a 5-4 halftime lead.
Misericordia will host Utica in non-conference action, Saturday at 1:00.
