Box Score The Misericordia University men's lacrosse team kept its post-season hopes alive with a thrilling 7-6 overtime win over DeSales, Wednesday night at Mangelsdorf Field.
Andrew Reynolds scored three goals for the Cougars, including the game-winner less than two minutes into the extra session.
Nick Santillo added three goals and
Patrick Kellish had a goal and an assist.
Patrick Johnson made 13 saves in goal as the Cougars improved to 6-8 overall and 2-3 in the Freedom Conference.
Santillo gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead early in the first period when he ripped a shot inside the right post from the top of the circle.
He added a goal from the right wing with an assist from
Lane Kocovsky less than two minutes later and Reynolds bounced a shot inside the left post to make it 3-0 at 9:35.
After DeSales cut it to 3-2 five minutes into the second quarter,
Steve Dallicardillo scooped up a ground ball in the MU defensive end and raced the length of the field to find Kellish who finished a low shot for a 4-2 lead with 2:51 left in the first half.
Santillo made it 5-2 with a shot into the upper right corner off a feed from Kellish with 1:20 remaining.
DeSales scored the only two goals of the third quarter to get within 5-4.
Reynolds opened the fourth quarter with a goal from the left wing off a pass from
Trevor Bodnar to put MU up, 6-4 with 11:45 to go.
DeSales answered just nine seconds later and tied it at 6-6 with just under five minutes left in regulation to set the stage for Reynolds's overtime heroics.
Reynolds was 8-12 on face-offs and had nine groundballs while
Jared Hunt had five groundballs and two caused turnovers.
Misericordia will conclude the regular season at Manhattanville, Saturday.
