Juliano Leads MU Women's Lax Past King's

Box Score Melina Juliano scored three goals in a six-minute span late in the second half to lead the Misericordia University women's lacrosse team to a 17-13 win over King's, Wednesday night at Mangelsdorf Field.

Juliano had four goals and two assists and Erin Baker added three goals and two assists for the Cougars.

Brooke North had three goals and an assist as MU won its fourth straight game to improve to 5-6 overall and 2-0 in the Freedom Conference.

Katie McLoughlin made five saves in goal for Misericordia.

After King's tied the score, 12-12, with 13:42 to play, the Cougars pulled away with four consecutive goals in a three-minute span.

Baker charged down the middle from 30 yards out and bounced a shot inside the right post to put MU in front, 13-12, with 11:02 to play.

Pagnotta scooped a loose ball near midfield and raced down the middle of the field to make it 14-12 less than a minute later.

Juliano made it 15-12 when she drove from the left flank and stuffed a shot inside the left post with 9:01 remaining.

Juliano's free position shot inside the right post made it 16-12 with 8:14 to play.

After a King's goal, Juliano answered off a nice feed from North.

Misericordia used a four-goal spurt to take an early 5-1 lead.

Tied 1-1, Baker drove down the middle from the top of the circle to make it 2-1 and Catie Viegas scored from the same spot for a 3-1 lead with 25:12 to go in the first half.

Liz Mulvey followed with a free position shot from the left wing and North made it 5-1 off a nice feed from Baker to finish a fast break off a turnover.

Misericordia will host Eastern, Saturday at 1:00.
