Box Score The Misericordia University men's lacrosse team dropped a tough 13-9 decision at Swarthmore on Saturday afternoon.
Andrew Reynolds led the Cougars offense with three goals while
Patrick Kellish,
Lane Kocovsky and
Brandon Winslow added two goals and one assist each.
Chris Fleming had two assists while
Patrick Johnson had seven saves in the loss.Â
Despite ultimately losing the game, MU dominated the opening quarter, jumping out to a 4-1 lead after the first 15 minutes of the game.Â
Kellish gave the Cougars the early 1-0 lead with his first goal of the game at the 10:14 mark. Swartmore responded with one of their own to tie the game at 1-1 with 9:31 left in the first.
Neither team scored over the next seven minutes. but Winslow started a late quarter rally, scoring with 2:18 left and 1:52 left in the quarter. Reynolds added a man-up goal on a feed from Winslow with 1:25 left to cap the Cougar's success in the opening quarter.Â
Swarthmore took over in the second, outscoring the Cougars 7-1 to take an 8-5 lead at the half.Â
The Cougars responded with a strong third quarter. Reynolds, Kellish and Kocovsky all scored to tie the game at 8-8 with just 2:20 left in the third.
Swarthmore added a man-up goal late in the third to capture the 9-8 lead with just 15 minutes left to play.Â
The Cougars failed to come any closer as Swarthmore scored four more goals in the fourth to capture a 13-9 victory.
MU returns to action Wednesday night against Farmingdale State at 7:00 at Mangelsdorf Field.Â
