Winslow Leads MU to Freedom Finals

Box Score Brandon Winslow had four goals and three assists to lead the Misericordia University men's lacrosse team to a 17-6 win over FDU-Florham in the Freedom Conference semifinals, Wednesday night at Mangelsdorf Field.

Andrew Reynolds had three goals and two assists and Lane Kocovsky added three goals and an assist.

Pat Kellish and Kyle Reese both had two goals and two assists and Jake Kocovsky scored twice.

Patrick Johnson made 13 saves as the Cougars won their fourth straight to advance to the Freedom championship game at Eastern, Saturday.

The Cougars jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead after one period and never looked back.

Kyle Reese ripped a shot from the left flank inside the far post for a 1-0 lead less than three minutes into the game.

Kellish fired a pass through the crease to Chris Fleming on the right post for a 2-0 lead at11:11.

Winslow whipped a low shot from the top of the circle and Jake Kocovsky made it 4-0 from the same spot with 7:55 to go in the period.

Reynolds took a feed from Lane Kocovsky from behind the cage and scored from the left wing.

Reese made it 6-0 with a man-up goal with under a minute to go.

Winslow opened the second quarter with a man-up goal at 13:39.

The Devils pulled with 7-2 with 1:31 left in the quarter, but Kellish scored off a Reynolds face-off win just six seconds later to make it 8-2.

Reynolds scored twice in the third quarter as the Cougars took an 11-4 lead and Lane Kocovsky scored three times in the fourth quarter.

Patrick Newins had a team-high seven ground balls and caused three turnovers while Reynolds and Reese both had six ground balls.
