Box Score The Misericordia University field hockey team dropped its season opener to Gwynedd-Mercy, 5-2, Friday afternoon at McGeehan Field.

Tori Carsley and Madisyn Granoski each scored their first career goals for the Cougars.

Gwynedd-Mercy opened the scored at 7:26, but the Cougars responded less than three minutes later.  Colby Eldridge's shot ricocheted off the left post and Carsley was there to poke home the rebound for her first career goal at 9:50.

The Griffins went back in front at 15:04 and added an insurance goal late in the first half.

Gwynedd-Mercy scored twice off deflections early in the second half to take a 5-1 lead.

Granoski closed out the scoring when she took a feed from Kyleigh Knell and slid a shot between the Gwynedd-Mercy goalie's pads for her first collegiate goal with just under nine minutes remaining.
