Box Score The Misericordia University women's lacrosse team remained undefeated in the MAC Freedom with an impressive 11-7 win over FDU-Florham, Wednesday evening at Mangelsdorf Field.
Kaila Quinlivan had three goals and an assist and
Kristen Ritter added three goals as the Cougars won their fifth straight game to improve to 8-5 overall and 3-0 in the MAC Freedom.
Justine Johnson had two goals and an assist while
Lexee Willey added two goals and
Amy Roth had three assists.
Maggie McGovern made six saves in goal to earn the win.
Ritter added six draw controls and
Meaghan Kelly had seven ground balls.Â
Nicole Winter had five ground balls and three caused turnovers.
The Cougars had a 33-16 advantage in shots and held a 32-17 edge in ground balls.
Roth raced down the left side and found Quinlivan in front for the game's first goal nearly six minutes into the game.
Willey made it 2-0 on a free position with 17:52 to play in the first half and Johnson made a nice pass through the crease to Quinlivan on the left post for a one-timer to make it 3-0 with 15:02 remaining.
The Cougars went scoreless for the rest of the half and FDU-Florham tallied twice in a five-minute span to get within 3-2.
McGovern made a big save on a point-blank shot with 5:09 left in the first half to keep MU in front.
After another big save by McGovern early in the second half, Ritter bounced in a free-position shot at the other end to give the Cougars a 4-2 lead with 22:52 to play.
The Devils scored seven minutes later, but Quinlivan answered just 90 seconds later when she took a feed from Roth on the left flank, spun and a whipped a shot from in front for a 5-3 lead midway through the period.
Ritter claimed the ensuing draw control, weaved through the defense and bounced in a shot just 10 seconds later to make it 6-3.
After an FDU-Florham goal with 13:40 left, Quinlivan forced a turnover, and found Johnson charging toward the goal for a 7-4 lead with 12:39 to play.
The Devils struck twice in less than a minute to get within 7-6 with 7:52 to go, but Ritter ignited a 4-0 spurt to put the game away.
Ritter dodged a defender in front of the net and bounced in a shot to give MU an 8-6 lead with 7:13 to play.
Less than a minute later
Lauren Weitzel scooped up a loose ball in front and converted for a 9-6 lead.
Amy Roth fired a pass through the crease to Jonson on the right post to give the Cougars a 10-6 lead with 5:27 left.
Johnson and Willey scored less than 30 seconds apart to give the Cougars an 11-6 lead with 5:09 left.
