5/31/2023 4:02:00 PM

The Misericordia University baseball team will continue its record-breaking season against Johns Hopkins in the first game of the D-III College World Series in Cedar Rapids, IA, Friday at 11:00 a.m.

At 39-13, the Cougars need one more win to set a new school single-season record for wins.

Four players have played and started every game this season to tie Kenny Jarema and Sean Boylan from the 2018 squad with 52 games played.  Garrett McIlhenney, Derrick Vosburg, Brady Madden and Brendan Gray will set a new single-season mark if their names are penciled into Friday's line-up card by head coach Pete Egbert.

McIlhenney and Vosburg have combined to set eight school single-season records.

McIlhenney has shattered the marks for runs (77) and stolen bases (41) and also has established new records with 30 hit by pitches, 51 walks and a .598 on-base percentage.

Vosburg has set new school records with 62 RBI, 192 at bats and 412 put outs.

McIlhenney and Gray have tied 11 other players with 1.000 fielding percentages.

In addition, Madden is the all-time leader with HBP and is tied for first with 12 career triples.  He has played 184 career games and can move into a three-way for second place on Friday.

He ranks second with 169 career RBI and is the top 10 in career at bats, hits, doubles, home runs, total bases, runs, stolen bases and assists.
